On January 1, 2005, Swiss Life Germany began a partnership with the MetallRente corporate pension fund to provide a range of occupational employee benefits products to eligible employees. The solutions on offer include savings plans and risk insurances such as life and disability pensions, and are designed for employees who wish to exercise their right to use a portion of their salary to purchase these products.

Fund covers several industries
MetallRente was founded in 2001 by employers and trade unions representing workers in the electrical and metal working industries. The fund has since grown to cover the furniture, textile, synthetic materials, clothing and steel industries. It is estimated that over four million employees in these industries will be eligible to subscribe to MetallRente and take advantage of these products. The operations of the fund are managed by a consortium of leading life insurance and pension companies in addition to Swiss Life Germany.

Swiss Life Germany has been a leading supplier of occupational pension, annuity and risk products for many years. The insurer will be working with MetallRente to maximize the value to employees of the financing vehicles involved, particularly direct insurance (Direktversicherung) and retirement funds (Pensionskasse).

Benefits for employers
The principal advantages of this new partnership for employers are:
- Group conditions available as from one member upwards,
- A range of seven different tariffs tailored to meet the needs of the collective labor agreement for the respective industry,
- Portability on leaving service,
- Outstanding support from Swiss Life Germany, recently voted ‘Best Provider of Occupational Pension Plans and Pension Vehicles’ by brokers in Germany.
