Among the highlights of this very special celebration will be an address by Dr. José Piñera, founder of the social security system in Chile, and by Dr. Yvonne Baumann, Ambassador of Switzerland in Chile.

Architect of the private pension system of Chile

Dr. José Piñera has established himself as one of the most famous experts in privatising public pension systems in the world.

Dr. José Piñera contributed to Chile’s leading private pension system in the world, which has been an example for seven Latin American countries and three European countries. His advice and expertise are also widely asked by many governments, such as the United States of America, UK and Russia. It is to his credit that Chile now has one of the most sophisticated pension systems in the world, and is the most competitive country in Latin America and the Caribbean.

José Piñera is President of the International Center for Pension Reform based in Santiago, member of the Advisory Board of the Vienna-based Educational Initiative for Central and Eastern Europe, and Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute based in Washington and at the Italian Instituto Bruno Leoni. He has a Master and a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University.
