It was clear from the start that he would be the one to stay home, and not his wife. In 2016, following the birth of his son Nino, Romano Tomezzoli put his plan into action. The ICT technician now has a part-time job at Swiss Life, and plenty of time for his child and volunteer work as a ski instructor. Which in turn motivates him on the job.

It’s just the right thing for him at this stage of his life, says Tomezzoli, who can recommend such a change to others provided it’s operationally feasible. He hasn’t regretted his decision a single day so far, despite the occasional derisive comment. “It just rolls off my back”, he shrugs.
