Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt considers capital increase

With reference to newpaper reports on Sunday, 15 September 2002, Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt confirms that it is considering raising additional capital of between 0.9 and 1.2 billion Swiss francs. In this connection, it plans to hold a general meeting of shareholders, which is expected to take place on 23 October 2002. Further details will be given this Wednesday, 18 September 2002, at the presentation of the 2002 half-year results and information on the Group's new strategic direction.
