Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt inaugurated its new office building in Zurich Wiedikon in the presence of the city's mayor on June 30, 2000. Binz Center offers 1100 modern work stations on approximately 23 000 m². The complex was converted from an industrial building to a service center within 11 months. Costs amounted to about CHF 100 million.
Binz Center in Zurich Wiedikon was built as a multifunctional industrial and office building at the beginning of the 90s by Werner H. Spross and Biedermann Architects. Swiss Life / Rentenanstalt acquired the empty building in 1998 in order to establish a second location to the head office at Zurich Enge in the city of Zurich. Under the head of Allreal Generalunternehmung AG, Stücheli Architects converted the building to a modern service center within 11 months.
Binz Center offers 1100 modern work stations, a central training area and a personnel restaurant on approximately 23 000 m². Three contemporary Swiss artists, Muda Mathis, Josef Felix Müller and Beat Zoderer, created special works of art for this building, which result in an interesting sort of tension with the building's functional architecture.
Manfred Zobl, President of the Corporate Executive Board, inaugurated the new service building in the presence of the city's mayor, Josef Estermann, on June 30. He emphasised in particular Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt's attachment to the city of Zurich. In his message of greeting, Mayor Josef Estermann underlined the city's high regard for the way in which Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt carefully carries out its entrepreneurial tasks.
