The Board of Directors of Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt has appointed Bruno Pfister, 43, as the new Chief Financial Officer. Mr Pfister has been in charge of banking products at Credit Suisse Financial Services since 1999, and was a member of the Executive Board of the Corporate and Retail Banking Division. He will take over his new position at Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt in the middle of August 2002.
Swiss Life/Rentenanstalt's Board of Directors announced at the beginning of this year that in the interests of corporate governance they intended to separate the roles of Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Both mandates were previously the responsibility of Dominique P. Morax, who will continue to hold the post of Chief Investment Officer. Both the CFO and the CIO will report directly to the Chairman of the Corporate Executive Board.
For the last three years Bruno Pfister, 43, a lawyer with an MBA, has been in charge of banking products at Credit Suisse Financial Services. In this role he made a significant contribution to improving profitability and increasing market penetration of the products which fell under his responsibility. From 1996 to 1999 Mr Pfister was employed by Liechtenstein Global Trust, finishing up as CFO and member of the Executive Board of the LGT Bank in Liechtenstein. He previously spent eight years with McKinsey Switzerland, heading a number of projects chiefly for banks and insurance companies.
