The Swiss Life network is pleased to announce that Ms. Margrit Schmid has been appointed Head of the Swiss Life network from July 1, 2006.
Margrit Schmid began her career at Swiss Life when she joined the International Division in 1991. This followed completion of a degree in mathematics and a period of mathematics research at the prestigious Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich. Margrit also holds a post-graduate degree in mathematics from the University of Paris.

At Swiss Life, Margrit became a country facilitator with responsibility for actuarial tasks for several Swiss Life European operations. She was promoted to Head of Finance of the European Division in 2001. Margrit then took over responsibility for group-wide strategic projects and non-core insurance operations, before her appoint-ment as Head of Finance & Business Development for Swiss Life’s International Division in early 2006.

As a full member of the ASA (Association of Swiss Actuaries) since 1999, Margrit has a profound understanding of the insurance business in every aspect. Her strong inter- cultural skills and experience of working in international and multicultural environments are complemented by her linguistic abilities (she speaks five languages in addition to Swiss German).Margrit’s transaction experience (co-operation relation-ships, M&As and divestitures) together with her active participation in change management, reorganization and general management, ensure that she has an excellent understanding of many of the most challenging issues faced by Swiss Life clients and partners.
