The online edition of Swiss Life's 2006 annual report captured first place in GeBer's benchmark survey for Switzerland. 49 Swiss companies were rated.
This was already the fifth European quality survey of large exchange-traded companies' online annual reports conducted by GeBer, an agency specialising in the field. Among the SMI-listed companies rated, Swiss Life came in first, second or third in every category. One interesting finding of the Swiss analysis: Only nine companies offered their report in an HTML version. The Swiss Life online report has been available in HTML since 2003, and can always be accessed from 7 a.m. onward on the day the annual and half-year results are published. The number of users goes up each year – a sure sign that interest in the online annual report is growing.

GeBer's experts gave the Swiss Life annual report a particularly high score for "Offline Use". Not only can individual chapters be downloaded as PDF documents, but the tables can also be saved in Excel format. The file basket was found to be a very practical feature, allowing users to compile their own selections of individual files or chapters.

A total of 114 European annual reports were included in the benchmark survey. The ratings were based on performance in the categories of "Report visibility/Access", "Online Use", "Offline Use" and "Service/Usability". With a total result of 64%, Swiss Life met around two-thirds of the criteria evaluated, putting it in the high mid-range of the European companies surveyed. The best ten reports each came in at around 80%, and the average score for the entire survey was 47%.
