On 14 August 2008, Swiss Life announced that it was acquiring 26.2 million shares in MLP at an average price of EUR 11.72 per share, for a purchasing price of EUR 307 million (around CHF 470 million) plus costs and fees.
Following receipt of all permits and authorisations, Swiss Life completed its acquisition of 24.32% of MLP on 20 November 2008.
