Social partnership
The employee-employer relationship at Swiss Life is characterised, amongst other things, by close contact between employee representatives and the Corporate Executive Board. Since 1996, Swiss Life has had a European Works Council (pursuant to EU Directives 94/45/EC and 2009/38/EC), the Europa Forum. The eleven-person committee with delegates from five countries meets regularly in internal meetings as well as with representatives of the Corporate Executive Board and deals with topics of transnational significance for the companies and branches and affecting the Swiss Life Group as a whole or at least two countries.
Training and development
The Swiss Life personnel strategy aims to continuously develop its employees and enable them to contribute to the purpose and goals of Swiss Life. This includes creating development opportunities, offering suitable training programs and investing in talent. A broad range of training and development opportunities enables employees to learn individually – from specialist training and personal development to digital skills. The offering is complemented by targeted promotion of junior managers, transition assistance, talent promotion and management development.
Work-life balance
Swiss Life seeks to support its employees in reconciling their work and private life and offers them permanent support at all locations. In addition to maternity and paternity leave, this includes childcare and family care, the option of part-time employment and a range of time-out models.
Equal treatment and non-discriminatory working environment
At Swiss Life, diversity and inclusion means that all employees have the same opportunities, based on their different abilities and potential. Open togetherness – based on mutual respect and tolerance and across linguistic, cultural and national borders – is fundamental to this. Different perspectives and approaches, experiences, ideas and abilities lead to innovation, quality and improved performance, and ensure the long-term success of Swiss Life. Ultimately, a positive experience in an attractive working environment is crucial when competing for qualified professionals. The Diversity & Inclusion Policy, applicable throughout the Group, describes how Swiss Life shapes the dimensions of its working culture, operating conditions, leadership, processes and infrastructure from the perspective of diversity and inclusion. It is aimed at dispelling prejudices and enhancing the benefits that a diverse company workforce can bring.
Occupational safety and health management
Swiss Life aims to offer its employees a safe and healthy working environment. On the one hand, this includes safeguarding their bodily health through ergonomic and safety-related measures. At the same time, Swiss Life also attaches great importance to promoting mental health through good working conditions and a holistic approach to work structuring, a variety of tasks, freedom to act, development opportunities and an appreciation of employees’ achievements in the workplace. All divisions of the Swiss Life Group, in some cases in cooperation with their social partners, offer a wide range of preventive measures for employees and managers to help them stay healthy.
